Privacy Policy — Kento
Last updated: 30 September 2026 App: Kento (com.borakececi.offlinebadukai) Data controller: Lysa Software Media — Bora Kececi Contact: rbkececi@gmail.com
In short
This app works offline. Your games, your analyses and your photos stay on your device. The AI analysis runs on your own phone's processor; no game is ever sent to a server.
The one exception is the Cloud feature, which only you can start: if you sign in and upload a game, that game is stored in our Firebase project. It is entirely optional and the rest of the app works without it.
1. What we process
1.1 Stays on your device, never reaches us
| data | why | where |
|---|---|---|
| Game records (SGF) | The core function of the app | App folder on device |
| Analysis results | So they need not be recomputed | App folder on device |
| Settings (language, sound, display) | To remember your preferences | Device preferences |
| Daily analysis counter | To track the free allowance | App folder on device |
| Board photos | To read the position | Never stored — read, position extracted, image discarded. The one exception is a photo you choose to send, see 1.5 |
| Voice move input (if on) | To place the move you say | Never stored — the phone's own recognizer turns speech into text and only the move is saved. No audio is recorded |
None of this leaves your device. Delete the app and it is all gone.
1.2 If you use the Cloud feature
Cloud backup is optional and only starts when you sign in.
| data | why | stored in |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address | To identify your account | Firebase Authentication (Google LLC) |
| Your name and profile info | To show you are signed in | Firebase Authentication |
| Games you upload (max 3) | To open them on another device | Cloud Firestore, Europe (eur3) |
| Upload time | To list them | Cloud Firestore |
Only you can access this data. Server rules prevent any user from reading anyone else's records.
1.3 Error reports
If something goes wrong inside the app, we can be told about it — you decide. The switch is in Settings → Privacy → "Send error reports". It is on by default and turning it off takes effect immediately.
| data | why | stored in |
|---|---|---|
| The error and where in the code it happened | To fix the fault | Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) |
| Device model, OS version, app version | The same fault often affects only one device or one version | Firebase Crashlytics |
| An install identifier generated by Crashlytics | To count how many people hit the same fault | Firebase Crashlytics |
What is never sent: your games, your analyses, your photos, your name or your email. Where an error message would contain a file name — and in this app a file name is usually the title you gave a game — the name is removed before the report leaves the device.
The identifier is generated by Crashlytics for this install only. It is not an advertising ID, it is not linked to your account, and reinstalling the app produces a new one.
1.4 Purchases
In-app purchases go through the App Store and Google Play. We never see or store your payment details; the store only tells us whether a purchase is valid.
1.5 Photos you send to improve recognition
If you marked the board corners by hand while reading a position from a photo, the result screen offers "Help improve recognition". It works only when you tap "Send"; no photo is ever sent on its own. Before the first send you are told what is sent and asked to agree; you can withdraw that at any time with Settings → Privacy → "Share recognition photos".
| data | why | where |
|---|---|---|
| The photo itself (downscaled, EXIF removed) | To train the board recognition model | Cloud Firestore (Google LLC), until reviewed |
| The corners you marked and the board size | The correct answer for the model | Cloud Firestore |
| The app's own corner guess | To see where the model went wrong | Cloud Firestore |
| Operating system and app version | To see which devices have trouble | Cloud Firestore |
Not sent: your account, name, e-mail, location, and the location and device data inside the photo (EXIF is stripped completely before sending). The submission is anonymous; the photo is not tied to any account or installation ID.
Photos showing a person are not sent. Face detection runs on the device before sending; if even one face is found, the photo does not leave your device and you are told so. Photos with no board are not sent either.
Photos are used only to improve board recognition and are not shared with third parties. The developer reviews every photo by hand; once reviewed, it is deleted from the cloud and kept only in the developer's own training set. A photo showing a person that slips through is deleted without entering the training set.
2. What we do not collect
- No advertising ID, ad network or tracking pixel
- No analytics of how you use the app: no screen views, no session lengths, no feature counters. The only thing that can be reported is a fault, and only if you leave the switch on (section 1.3)
- No location, contacts or calendar access. The microphone is used only while voice move input is on and you have started listening; audio is never sent anywhere
- No sale or sharing of data with third parties
3. Permissions
| permission | asked when | used for |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Taking a photo in "Position from a photo" | Photographing the board |
| Photo library | Picking from the gallery | Reading an existing photo |
| Microphone (on iOS also Speech Recognition) | The first time you tap the microphone button with "Voice move input" on in Settings | Recognizing the move you say; recognition runs on the device |
All of them are used only at that moment, for that task. The photo is not stored on the device — it is read, the stone positions are extracted, and the image is discarded. It leaves the app only if you tap "Send" (see 1.5).
4. How long we keep data
Data on your device stays until you delete it or remove the app.
Photos you send to improve recognition (1.5) stay in the cloud until the developer has reviewed them, then they are deleted from the cloud.
Your cloud games stay until you delete them. You can delete your account and every cloud game from inside the app: Library → Cloud → "Delete my account". Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
5. Your rights (GDPR and KVKK)
You may request access to, correction of, deletion of, objection to the processing of, and portability of your data.
For cloud data, deletion and access are immediate from inside the app. For anything else write to rbkececi@gmail.com; we reply within 30 days at the latest.
6. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
7. Services we use
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore) — for the cloud feature and for recognition photos you choose to send (see 1.5). Data is held in the European region. https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Google Firebase Crashlytics — error reports only, and only while the switch in Settings → Privacy is on. See section 1.3. https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Apple App Store / Google Play — purchase validation.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, the current version is published at this address and the "last updated" date changes. For a significant change you will be told inside the app.
